Taking Lake Havasu City Back to the Future

In February 2025, at the Western Pyrotechnic Association’s Winter Blast in Lake Havasu City, AZ, FlyLight Drone Shows and Verge Aero teamed up with Hauter Fireworks to deliver a landmark pyro-drone show themed around the classic film Back to the Future. Using 500 Verge Aero X7 drones alongside 90 specialized pyro-drones, we created a 12-minute spectacle complete with over 13,000 synchronized firework cues that transported attendees through time .

A Trip Through Time in the Sky

Rather than generic shapes, our show brought the DeLorean and Hill Valley clocktower to life. As the film’s signature soundtrack played, drones formed the iconic time machine racing forward, then shifted into the clocktower sequence, complete with a lightning bolt animation. Next, 90 pyro-drones unleashed carefully timed bursts of sparks and flame to mimic the clock’s strike, creating a visceral crescendo that married precision drone choreography with pyrotechnic drama.

A Fusion of Drone Art and Pyro
